Fat Pat Listening Session: A Stormy Night of Legacy and Houston Hip-Hop Excellence
Houston’s sky opened up on Monday night, but even the storm couldn’t slow the energy around Wreckshop Records’ exclusive Fat Pat Listening Session at The Deluxe Theater. It felt like the kind of night Jay Z would describe as “where culture meets legacy… and everybody knows they’re standing in a moment bigger than themselves.”
Inside, the room was thick with Houston royalty—artists, producers, and day-ones who helped shape the very sound the world now calls Southern Hip-Hop. This wasn’t a party. It was a homecoming. A reclamation. A reminder.

Record by record, the panel—T-Gray, Tight Eyes, D Gotti, Solo, XO, Propain, Killer Kyleon, Bump, GT Garza, Bruce Bang, Daluna (on guitar), Pug, and Slim Thug, and D Lo—broke down the stories behind the music. Four and five producers deep on a single track. Memories layered like samples.
One standout moment came from Lil Pat, who said with humility, “I could never fill his shoes… they’re too big.” Another came from Fat Pat himself echoing through the speakers: “Let it go, baby!” And of course, the laughter when Noke D reminded the room about a conversation he had with Pat, “Don’t put my name in anything that can incriminate me!”

D-Reck spoke on Wreckshop’s legacy—joking about stealing a track Propain and XO were cooking for a “secret album”—before pivoting to something real: “East and West had plex… but the South is on the rise.”
Pug, who produced five to six tracks on the project, helped ground the night in pure craft. This was the South sharpening its blade.
